WBCS Syllabus and Exam Pattern 2022

1. Basically, WBCS Prelims consists of one paper only, i.e., General Studies. Unlike various other states, Public Service Commission Exams.

2. Not only that, but the WBCS Mains Exam has 6 compulsory papers. Also, one optional subject consisting of 2 articles.

3. Moreover, Candidates have Optional Subjects for Group A and Group B services.

4. Since, out of 6 compulsory papers, four papers are of MCQ Type:

WBCS Syllabus 2022

Therefore, the WBPCS Prelims Exam takes many places at various centers. In the districts of West Bengal. Now, Darjeeling is a center, which is allowed to be chosen only by the Scheduled Tribes of the Darjeeling district and by candidates from three hill-divisions:  in addition, Darjeeling Sadar, Mirik and Kurseong.

Prelims Syllabus

Basically, the Preliminary Syllabus of the WBCS comprises eight subjects or topics. Therefore, there are 200 (MCQ). Hence, each section carries 25 marks. So, the duration of the exam will be within 2.5 hours. But, a preliminary exam is only a screening test, which does not have the effects considered for final selection. WBCS Syllabus 2022 for Mains Exam

Students will qualify for the WBCS Mains exam, which is the basis of their performance in the Prelims. The Mains exam will contain six compulsory papers. Also, one optional subject comprises two forms. Each one of these papers will consist of 200 marks. Candidates must complete them within 3 hours of completing each paper.

Candidates who qualify for the WBCS Mains Exam are called for the ‘Interview’ Round. A Board appointed by the WBCS interviews candidates. The main fields checked by the interviewer are given below.

1. Firstly, applicant will be interviewed by a board who will have a record of the candidate’s career and interests filled by the candidate in the Application Form.

2. The objective of the interview is to test the candidate’s suitability for a career in state services by a board of competent and unbiased observers.
